Google Maps will soon inform you when to get off train or bus via a notification

Google is bringing a range of significant features to Maps. It is just a week ago that the Maps for Android got the Two-wheeler feature. The search giant is now planning to introduce a new feature which will inform you when to get off the bus or train, while you are traveling. This new feature is mostly useful in case you fall asleep while traveling, which is a pretty usual sight for most of us.
This new feature on Google Maps will notify you as and when you are about to reach your final destination. Google Maps will reportedly send you live notification on your phone mentioning that it's time for you to get down the train or bus. These notifications will appear even if your phone is locked. Basically, you will not have to go to the Maps app to get your journey update.

We smartphone users often have the tendency to search for our transit directions via Google Maps. As we enter the starting point and the destination -- Google Maps shows the direction and the time you may take -- depending on the mode you chose -- to reach your final destination.

In case you are traveling via a bus or a train, Google Maps -- currently shows the direction, provides you with the real-time update on the journey. The upcoming feature is small but a useful update to Maps. With the new feature that Google is gearing up to bring to its Maps -- it is aiming to provide you with live guidance and interactive real-time notifications during your journey.

Until now, to get the update on your transit journey you had to go back to the Google Maps app, but with the new feature coming in soon -- Google Maps will send you notifications as you reach your destination. It will reportedly send you updates on your journey to your device -- which is said to appear on your Android lock screen.

TechCrunch was the first one to report about the coming of this new feature to Google Maps. However, it is noteworthy that Google as of yet hasn't revealed any details on the upcoming feature. "We expect this update to go live soon -- and Google may already be testing it outside of its trusted tester community. If you're already seeing it in Google Maps yourself, let us know in the comments," notes TechCrunch.

Google, very recently introduced a nifty feature for all bikes out there who user Maps while travelling. Google Maps get a Two-wheeler mode - under which the bikers will get the fastest route to reach their mentioned destination. This update was rolled out last week, and while testing the feature -- we discovered that the Two-wheeler feature is available only for Android users. We tried testing the feature today -- and it seems the feature is yet to hit the iOS users - chances are it may come to them in the forthcoming days. The Two-wheeler feature is available only for the Android users with Google Maps version -- v9.67.1.
